Last year I had a coffee with a sea-weed specialist Katie Larsen, who at the time produced a pavilion roof made out of local sea grass. We chatted about sustainability of the material and the abundance of it. After all, Danish shores are awash with sea-grass.
A few weeks later I was experimenting with sea-grass and discovered how amazing it actually is. We were looking for the most sustainable box filler to protect our packages and sea grass was the obvious choice, since we only use sustainable materials at The Witchery CPH.
Sea grass wrapped the bottles beautifully and provided the much needed protection.
We immediately decided that all our products will come wrapped in local sea-grass. Kurt Scherup of Moentang.dk ( www.moentang.dk) based in Møn is our supplier.
Now we’re tempted to fill sofa cushions with it!
Seagrass is not only a wonderful box filler. You can use it to make roofs, isolate walls and even stuff soft furniture with! There are so many uses for it.
Have a look at Kurt’s site. Also, those of you who haven’t yet been to Møn, make sure you pay it a visit. Mønsklint is one of the most picturesque places in Denmark.
